Kingston is a small, historic and very nice city of Ontario that is located at the mouth of the St. Lawrence & Cataraqui Rivers, which is the gateway to the Thousand Islands and Lake Ontario. You will find there, many attractions, Museums, Historic Sites, Art Galleries, and
Parks & Conservation Areas as Marine Museum, Fort Henry, 1000 Islands, Frontenac Provincial Park, Cataraqui Conservation Area and other beautiful places.
Fort Henry is a museum that was built from 1832 to 1837 to replace an existing fortification from the War of 1812 era and it was restored from 1936 to 1938. Fort Henry is a beautiful an historic site that you should visit if you go to Kingston.
Marine Museum is other nice place to visit in Kingston. The Museum Ship Alexander Henry is the largest artifact in the museum collection. The 210 foot retired Canadian Coast Guard vessel was acquired by the Marine Museum in 1985. It was built at the Port Arthur Shipbuilding Company and launched in 1958. It was retired to Kingston in 1984. This ship provided ice breaking service on the upper Great Lakes.
